Building Envelope Contractors for Safe, Compliant Buildings

St George's Island high-rise flats, Manchester, after façade remediation by Starfish Construction

The building envelope is a building's first line of defence. Its façade, cladding, roof and structure keep out weather and fire, hold in heat and keep occupants safe, so when any part of it fails, safety, compliance and value are all at risk.

Starfish Construction is a trusted building envelope contractor working across the UK from offices in Scotland, Manchester and London. We deliver façade remediation and engineering, commercial cladding replacement, commercial and industrial roofing and RAAC remediation for BSA Duty Holders, architects, surveyors, property owners and managers.

Key Elements of a Building Envelope

One accountable team, from investigation to sign-off.

Every project follows the same controlled path. We start with detailed façade inspections and condition surveys, then develop a compliant façade design, with fire strategy, system selection and details agreed before work starts. On site, our remediation project management team controls programme, cost, quality and safety, acting as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor where required. On occupied buildings, our resident liaison team keeps residents informed through project hubs, regular updates and a named point of contact.

Our methodology is aligned with the Building Safety Act, improving the safety, energy efficiency and compliance of every building envelope project we deliver.

“Building envelope remediation requires a strategic balance of safety, compliance, and commercial viability. At Starfish Construction, we deliver fully integrated solutions that mitigate risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect long-term asset value for our clients.”

DANIEL JESSIMER
COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR, STARFISH CONSTRUCTION

The Building Safety Act 2022 has been the most transformative event in the built environment and the construction industry for over 40 years. By introducing stringent regulations and information reporting to enhance fire safety in building design, construction, and maintenance, it enables more robust governance of façade remediation and building envelope upgrades. A key component is the requirement for Duty Holders, such as building owners, managers and contractors, to proactively manage fire risks throughout a building's lifecycle, including conducting comprehensive fire risk assessments, implementing necessary remediation measures and maintaining detailed safety case reports. Our teams can act as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor, documenting every project element, from material selection to components, and aligning all work and reporting with the Golden Thread.
