Challenges and Solutions

Our professional site personnel and experienced project management team excel at delivering successful construction solutions that are aesthetically pleasing and bring tangible benefits. Our solution would increase natural light and improve thermal efficiency.

The crucial element was the safe removal of 3,750 m2 of Galbestos coated profiled metal wall cladding whilst the foundry remained in full production. Starfish Construction removed the large wall sheets without endangering the safety of the foundry workers or compromising the working environment. Throughout the process, we had to ensure the building remained wind and watertight.

Outcome

The foundry required a substantial amount of artificial lighting due to a lack of natural daylight. The new Euroclad 0.7 mm thick Plastisol coated profiled metal sheet installed with a new insulation quilt and translucent wall cladding enhanced the natural daylight entering the building by 30%. In addition to increased natural light, the new cladding allowed a substantial increase in thermal efficiency, producing significant energy savings.

Starfish Construction managed the project professionally throughout, with our highly trained and experienced team not only managing the safe removal and disposal of the defective asbestos cladding but ensuring the continuity of pipe production throughout the project.

The removal of the defective wall cladding containing Galbestos was of great concern to our Management. This delicate process needed to be handled sensitively without unnecessary disruption to our factory, which was working at full capacity.

After a process of due diligence, we duly appointed Starfish Construction. We were attracted to their professionalism, accreditations, investment in training and track record of service delivery. We were delighted with the way Starfish Construction delivered the project. It has changed our working environment beyond recognition.
